On Saturday, August 22, 2020, Robert Belton, age 56, went home to be with his Lord and Savior. He passed away in Billings, Montana after losing his battle with congestive heart failure.
Robert was born on December 5, 1963 in Wolf Point, Montana to Ronald Belton and Beatrice Redwood Belton. Robert attended school in Poplar, Montana and was a devout Poplar Indian. He was a All-State player and he received a full athletic scholarship. He graduated from Poplar High School in 1982. In 1983 he married Sheila Spotted Bull. From this union two children were born, Randie and Rena he was later divorced. After this union, Robert also had Reese and Rikki and then Ariana.
Robert’s pride and joy were his grandchildren: Chloe, Emma, and finally his only boy, Braxton. He loved watching them play sports, rodeo, and powwow dancing. Robert also had several nieces and nephews he was close to. He loved them all and would do anything for them, they all knew this and thought of him as a dad.
Robert was a hard worker his whole life. He enjoyed doing construction work and at one point owned his own construction business. At the time of his death he was working for the Fort Peck Tribes Health Promotion Disease Prevention program.
Robert was many things, but an avid outdoorsman would probably describe him best. He loved to hunt and fish any chance he could. He also continued to play basketball, and enjoyed coaching his daughter’s basketball teams throughout the years. He also had a passion of riding and owning Harley and Chopper motorcycles. He passed on his competitive spirit, love of sports and all things outdoors to his daughters and grandkids.
Robert was preceded in death by his father Ronald Belton, Beatrice Redwood Belton, his Grandmother Florence Redwood Ricker, brothers Quentin (Butch) Crow, Richard (Dickie) Crow and baby brother Leonard Crow, and good friend Guy Peterson.
Robert is survived by his five daughters: Randie Belton, Rena (Wilfred) Lambert, Reese Belton, Rikki Belton, and Ariana Long Tree. His grandchildren: Chloe, Emma, and Braxton. Brothers and sisters: William “Babes” (Marla) Prichard, Warren (Kathy) Crowe, Ronald Lee “Stinker” Crowe, Rhonda Mason, Terry Barron, and Mike Crow. Robert had so many family and friends and friends that were family, please forgive us if we have missed your name.
