Thelma Jean Jones, age 65 of Poplar, MT passed away on June 5th 2013 at the Billings Clinic.
Thelma was born in Poplar, MT on March 31, 1948, to Frank Jones and Annie Small. She received her early education in Poplar, and later graduated high school in San Jose, CA in 1966. Thelma went on to nursing school in Gallup, NM, where she received her LPN degree. She was later employed as an LPN in Fort Belknap, MT, also at A&S Industries in Poplar, and SpottedBullTreatmentCenter in Poplar as a technician.
Thelma was a very giving woman and will be greatly missed. She was always helping people out. She would give people a place to stay, and she never said no. She was very devoted to her Catholic faith. Her special interests include word puzzles, bingo, and reading. She was a very lucky scratch card winner. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She helped raise all her grandkids; Karen Simons, Ashley Simons, Destinee Young, Stacey Simons, Shanowa Jones, Dustin Kohl, Marris Kohl, and Labrea Boadle.
She is survived by her life long companion of 41 years, Gabriel (Mickey) Young and their three children; Brian (Connie) Jones, Susie (David) Khol, and Lahoma (Loren) Boadle, also, adopted sons, Eric Red Dog and Tyrone Jones and adopted daughter, Amanda (Marvin) Bull Chief, all of Poplar. Brothers; Everett (Connie) Jones, of Poplar; and Manfred (Jenette) Jones, of Dodson, MT. Sister, Gloria (Bob) Garcia of San Jose, CA, and adopted sister, Louise Long Tree of Brockton, MT, also survived by her nephew, Frank Jones of Poplar. Eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. We apologize if we forgot anyone, there are too many to mention.
Thelma is preceded in death, by her parents, sisters; Marie Bets His Medicine, Sybil Jones-Scott, Sylvia Jones and Beverly Red Eagle. Brothers; Ray Bets His Medicine and Philmore Jones. Auntie, Mary Red Eagle, and cousin, Abe Chopper.
A Rosary will be held Monday, June 10 at 7:00 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Poplar. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, June 11 at 10:00 a.m., with burial to follow at the PoplarCityCemetery in Poplar. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel of Wolf Point is assisting with arrangements.
