Vance D Christiansen (Sapa Wana GI) son of Orion D and Ruth Ann Christiansen was born in Pocatello, ID on January 21st 1959 and with grace and dignity peacefully moved on January 14th 2020. Husband to Linda S. Christiansen and father to Jamie K (Dan) McKee, Jeromy J (Mandi) Christiansen and his precious baby Jorga L Christiansen. Two treasured nephews/sons Greg D (Georgie) and Zach W Gourneau. A brother to Shane (Susan) Christiansen, Randy (Sandy) Christiansen, Valerie Christiansen, Art Greybull, Richard Longee, Samuel Longee, Vera Longee, Dore Menz and his extended family the Greyhawks. Grandfather to his grandsons who he adored, Cian James and Leighton James Christiansen, granddaughters Chelsie and Alexis McKee and recently added Ivorie, Becca and Sheribear. An uncle to all his special nieces and nephews.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, his adoptive father Benji Greyhawk Sr., his sister-in-law Toni Greybull and nephew Tyrone Gourneau.
Vance came to Poplar, MT in 1976 and started working at A & S Industries. He worked for A & S until 1994 and a year later started his career with the Poplar Public Schools. He started as the JOM Coordinator and then moved on to be the Director of the Lunch Program. Lastly he worked for FedEx for 5 years. Our dad enjoyed being with his family more than anything whether it be camping, hunting or just spending time in his backyard during a BBQ or any family gathering. During his free time, he was on the Poplar Volunteer Fire Department for many years and had a blast for as long as he was able to do it.
He was known by others for his quick wit, gentle smile and his kind and compassionate spirit. He never met a stranger, always had time for everyone and never failed to shake hands when it was offered. One of the biggest lessons our dad tried to teach all of us was to be compassionate, forgive each other our faults and never stop trying. He did this by example and we will be forever grateful. While he will be dearly missed by all who knew him, he would want everyone to know that he was more than prepared and eager to meet his Lord and Savior. He had lived his life to the fullest, without regret and was prepared for what is next.
