Violet Ruth (Holderman) Martin, age 77, of Wolf Point, MT passed away while surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at the Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point.

In 1952, she met Murl W. Martin and they were married in May of 1953 in Miles City, MT. They lived in Billings for 3 months until they were needed on the Martin family homestead south of Wolf Point. She always grew a large garden and canned most of the produce. She was also well known for growing beautiful rose bushes. When she wasn’t cooking, gardening, or working on the farm, she enjoyed visiting with the neighbor ladies in the community and getting together for branding or a swim at the creek. They lived on the farm for 40 ½ years, until Murl lost the battle to cancer on December 8, 1994.
In her later years, Violet was involved in bible study, belonged to A.L.C.W., and volunteered at the Frontier school for 8 years. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends, as well as traveling, baking, puzzles and reading.
She is preceded in death by husband, Murl; sons, Craig and Curt Martin; parents, Albert and Mary; and siblings, Pearl Stelzer, Evelyn Dick, Durward A. Holderman, and Albert Holderman.

I am so very sorry to hear about your mom and grandma. Violet was such a special to me, she always treated me like family and I thought of her the same way. I know that there was an amazing welcome for her in heaven as Murel, Craig and Curt awaited her arrival but I also know that you will all miss her a great deal. I guess that is what makes us humans. She was such an amazing friend to my own mother. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Chuck, Cam and Family,
I am sorry to hear about Violet’s passing. I know how much you will miss her. She was and always will be a wonderful lady.
She was one of the first people to meet TJ when we came to Wolf Point while Tony was on a cruise. It was not long after Curt passed away. Violet smiled at him and he smiled back. They shared a moment and I still remember it and how cold it was that day.
Sorry for rambling. Know that I will be thinking of you in the coming weeks as you pass through this trying time and will say a prayer that God helps you heal.

Dad, [Phil Jackley] used to hunt on Murl’s property. In fact if memory serves correctly, Dad and Doc Knapp were hunting there the day that Doc passed away. I was only on one hunting trip with Dad and remember a nice visit with Violet. What a lovely women.
