Walter John Belcher, age 57, went home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of January 22, 2016.
John was born in poplar, MT to Walter and Helen (Weeks) Belcher. He was raised in Wolf Point and although he was an only child he acquired many “brothers and sisters” growing up.
John had a laid back, easy going personality and was always willing to lend a helping hand or sympathetic ear to anyone in need. You could always count on a warm cup of coffee and good conversation while sitting around his table. “We can solve all the world’s problems at this table with enough coffee, now if we could only get them to listen”, he would joke.
John attended colleges in Havre, Great Falls and here on the Reservation, never focusing on one particular degree. He kept a well rounded subject base with his thirst for knowledge virtually unquenchable.
He also enjoyed reading and spending quality time with loved ones and friends.
John is survived by his wife Hope Belcher, his children Janette (Jeff) Ricker, Shawn Hoffman, Johnny Lee and Jesse Belcher, Autumn (Santee) Black Dog, Rachel and Jade Martin with 20 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by both parents, his friend and brother John “Lucky” Christian, his aunt Cleo Camrud, his uncle and good friend Duane Ingund.

My family and I would like to express our deepest sympathy over the loss of Johnny.
May you find comfort in your loving memories and the warmth of family and friends. A scripture that has uplifted many who have experienced such a loss, is found at Revelation 21:4. There it describes a time when death and pain will be gone forever. We will even see our loved ones again who we have lost in death (John 5:28 & 29). It is our hope that these words bring you a measure of comfort during this difficult time as well. Once again, please accept our condolences as you deal with your loss.

I will miss you dad, but it gives my heart some peace knowing that you are with grandpa, grandma, Janette and my son, “Little” Shawn. The family is together still, even if some of us are stubbornly holding on down here. I love you old man, save a cup of coffee for me and we’ll sit and talk when I come home hey?
