William Earl “Bill” Jones, age 58, of Poplar, MT passed away on November 25, 2021 in Billings, MT with family by his side. William was born on March 22, 1963 to Earl Jones, Jr. and Vivian Douglas Jones.
Bill graduated from Poplar High School in 1981. During his high school years, Bill enjoyed playing basketball. He played in many tournaments and the highlights of making it to the state tournaments.
After high school, Bill enlisted on the U.S. Army. Going into the service on the Buddy system with cousin Roy Snell, Jr., these two handsome men in their uniforms, boarded a plane for this adventure. Bill served overseas in Germany and enjoyed his time there. But due to unforeseen circumstances he was discharged. One thing about Bill, he always owned up to his mistakes.
Bill did a lot during his lifetime. He worked at A&S Industries. Went firefighting every summer until his son Earl threw his firefighting boots away in 2007. He earned his AAS degree in Building trades from FPCC. He also worked at West Electronics. But the job he enjoyed most was being a dad and grandpa!
Bill enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He loved to BBQ, listen to music, go for rides and especially going fishing.
In 1985 Bill met Ramona Jackson. From this union Myles David and Brent William were born. They separated but remained friends.
In October 2004 Bill met Nancy Red Star. From this union Earl William and William Earl were born. Bill and Nancy shared 17 years together until his passing.
Bill is survived by his wife Nancy, sons Myles David (Cassie), Brent William, Earl William and William Earl, grandchildren Nickolas, Gabriel, Brent Jr., Azalea, Eli, Mia, Darrell, Joseph, Miracle and LaTia, his loving mother Vivian Douglas Jones, sisters DeAnna (Sam) Red Star, Earlene (Michael J) Ackerman and Marta Jones, nephews Matt and Duran, nieces Raina, Samilynn, Antoinette, brothers and sisters growing up Terry Two Hearts, Christine Jones, Ralph Menz, Manny Smith, Nanette Two Hearts and Alva Menz, aunts Louella Contreras, Melissa Cantrell, Agnes Ward, Rose Morsette, Juanita Youngman, Naomi Montclair, Donna Follet and Lois Longtree, uncles Edgar Jones and Mike Douglas “Chap”. Bill is survived by his adopted families in Washington, the Genze family, Totus family and the Johnson families all took him as a brother. Bill is also survived by many, many cousins on both sides of the Jones and Douglas sides of the family. He loved and cared about you all.
Bill is preceded in death by his father Earl Jones, Jr., brothers Darrell Moses and Earl Jones III, niece Heather Jones, aunts LaVerne Dupree Two Hearts, Midge Clancy, Joan White Eagle and Arlene Jones, uncles Leroy, Arnold, Steve, William, Duane, Jesse and John Douglas, cousins Claire Fourstar, Little Steve Douglas, Merle and Courtney Cantrell.
Bill was a faithful husband, devoted father and loving grandpa, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. He was a gentle giant with a big heart and smile for everyone. Bill liked telling his stories of his adventures throughout his life. He loved to cook, his baked beans and friend potatoes were his specialty at family dinners.
Although you are no longer with us, we all take comfort in knowing you are restored in Heaven. We all love you and will miss you dearly. Until we meet again, watch over us Bill.
