Wylan Eugene Jones also known as “Stylin Wylan” was born on November 16, 1973 in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada to Mary Jane Jones, and Herbert Hapa. When he was 2 ½ months old he had come to live with Marion and Gilbert Miller in Wolf Point, Montana.
Wylan was very active all his life. In his younger years he was active in baseball, band, AAU wrestling, basketball and ochello. He loved the outdoors where he would go fishing, camping, hunting, cruising, listening to music and visiting with family and friends, playing horse shoes and just enjoying nature. He also was a fire fighter, something that he enjoyed a lot. He wild horse raced as well as attending powwows, singing at the drum, playing cards and making people laugh. Something he was really good at. People would tell us his crazy stories on how much he made them laugh, the word belly buster was used a lot, cause he would make people laugh so hard, their stomachs hurt and would put tears in their eyes.
Wylan worked numerous jobs throughout his life starting at a very young age, assembling bikes, he also worked at ShopKo, Silver Wolf Casino, a guard at the juvenile detention center, and also went into the Army National Guard. Wylan had such a huge heart he helped with any and all type of work for people, whether it was cleaning for a friend, doing yard work for an elder, or working on a vehicle with a friend. You can always depend on Stylin to be there and always give a 110% in any and all he can do.
In 1997, he met Sandra Ownspipe-Ricker and to this union they had three beautiful daughters, Kayleigh, Codi and Isabella jones, they later separated but remained close friends. Wylan later met Lois Eder and remained with her till his passing.
Wylan is survived by his 3 daughters Codi, Isabella and Kayleigh (Devon) and grandchildren Daylen Shawn, and Nicosia Allen, and their mother Sandra; foster mother, Marion Miller all of Wolf Point; brothers, Stanley Jones of Fort Kipp, Wade and Todd Miller of Billings,MT, and Jay Miller of Rochella, Illinois; sister, Leah jones; aunts, Merle (Art) Hapa, Francis (John) Boyd of Poplar, Flora Kaye (Ron) Hapa, Gwen Hapa of Regina, Saskatchewen, Canada; uncles, Raymond Hapa of Regina, Saskcathewen, Edgar jones of Poplar, Montana; his companion and special friend Lois Eder, and granddaughter, Haleena Bear who he called silly beans.
Wylan was preceded in death by his parents Mary Jane and Herbert Hapa; foster father, Gilbert Miller; brothers, David and Maynard Jones; sister, Lafonda Big Leggins; aunts, Arlene Ricker, Mary Hotain, Victoria Demas, Vivian Jones-Hapa, Victoria Elk; uncles, Earl Jones, Maynard Jones, Richard Jones, Frank Hapa Sr., Carl Essie, and Herman Hapa.
Wylan was a fighter, and a survivor from the day he was born. For the first time in his life he does not have to fight anymore. Wylan you are now at peace. Thank you for the memories we have shared. The many jokes and laughs we created. We will never forget you. You will forever remain in our hearts and we are very proud of you, love you dad, thank you for being in my life and choosing me as your daughter.

Wylan was so young to leave this life, however, when the Lord calls you home you respond and leave the rest of us. When my brother Mike “Monk” Azure died Wylan was at the Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel telling how Monk had given him some commodities to help out. May Wylan be greeted in heaven by all who preceded him in death. God bless the family.
